Baton Twirling
The World of Twirl is the home of the Main-E-Acts travel team: Welcome to the World of Twirl!! By registering for baton-twirling classes, you will not only learn how to twirl, but you will have the opportunity to make new friends, meet new people and participate in the art form of one of the fastest-growing sports. The equipment required will be a balanced baton which may be purchased from the instructor/coach at registration for $28.00. (Performances are not mandatory!). The $45.00 class fee for Bucksport/Orland residents and $50.00 for all others is due the first class of each session, payable to Adult and Community Education. For more information please contact Diane Higgins at 469-3377 or the Bucksport Adult and Community Education office at 469-2129. Join the class to participate at a recreational level or to whirl your way to the top as the Main-E-Acts have done. You may take your chosen sport of Baton Twirling to a level where you are MOST comfortable. Join the Fun!!. There is a bus that runs from Miles Lane School to the Jewett School.

Steel Drums
Invented in Trinidad around 1940 and refined for decades, steel drums--"pans"--are the newest acoustic instrument in the world and have risen to recognition as a legitimate musical instrument. We'll play the traditional calypso and soca styles of lively and danceable music, as well as other styles--any music is possible on pan. There is a growing movement of steel bands in Hancock County, with members ranging in age from elementary school ages to elders. All are welcome here! Playing pans is well-suited to rapid mastery, and while ability to read music is helpful, it is NOT required. Students of all ages can register for beginners' class. Pan rental fee: $15.00. Music fee: $0-$10, depending on class. All fees payable to instructor on the first night of class. beth.zdrojowy@bucksportschools.com
